Sponsor Spotlight: Cincinnati Museum Center

For people who haven’t visited in a while, what’s new at the Cincinnati Museum Center?

Cincinnati Museum Center is, in the fewest words, a cathedral of curiosity. With three museums, an OMNIMAX theater and a rotating lineup of featured exhibitions, it specializes in making people say, “Wow! No way!” before they rush off to learn even more. In the next five months you can experience our annual holiday tradition Holiday Junction featuring the Duke Energy Holiday Trains (which are celebrating their 78th year in Cincinnati!), our OMNIMAX film T. REX (which features a cameo by our paleontologist and Dinosaur Hall) and two new featured exhibitions – Julia Child: A Recipe for Life (February 1 – May 18, 2025) and Barbie: A Cultural Icon (April 4 – September 1, 2025). Genuinely something for every interest.

Why does Cincinnati Museum Center underwrite on Cincinnati Public Radio?

Underwriting with Cincinnati Public Radio taps into a core audience for us: curious listeners and lifelong learners who are patrons of arts and culture. Public radio helps us reach an audience listening to very intentionally expand their minds, to engage in their community and to seek events and opportunities that are enriching. I regularly hear feedback from listeners who say they heard about an exhibition or program that “sounds so fascinating” or “I didn’t know that was going on, I have to come see it.” That tells me we’re reaching listeners in ways other delivery vehicles aren’t. I’d strongly urge other businesses to consider Cincinnati Public Radio in their marketing and outreach plans. (And Valerie really works with us to maximize our outreach and best match our message with Cincinnati Public Radio’s audiences… She has always been helpful in making sure our copy is structured for success).

Why do you listen to public radio

WVXU is less of a listening experience and more of a conversation. You’re engaging with the programming and doing so with hosts and personalities that feel like friends. I’m a big fan of Cincinnati Edition with Lucy May because she presents balanced discussions that seek to inform you. And I’ve had wonderful experiences with Tana Weingartner and Bill Rinehart, who I consider two of the most respected and thorough journalists that operate with a level of integrity and humanity that makes me better as a listener and a communications professional.

You’re a radio fan, but you’re also a podcaster. Tell us a little bit about Meanwhile… at the Museum.

Meanwhile… at the Museum plays on that iconic Super Friends line “Meanwhile… at the Hall of Justice,” except Cincinnati Museum Center is filled with real life superheroes doing incredible work. We started the podcast to give them a platform to talk about the work they do and why they love it, sprinkling in some personal journeys and shenanigans along the way. It’s been a rewarding experience as a host because you don’t often get 45 minutes with a colleague – no phones, no emails, no interruptions – to just talk and learn about them. I’ve had a lot of fun with it and am very lucky to work with our producer, Mitch Seifert, who nudges me back on track and adds really thoughtful commentary during each episode. Check it out at CincinnatiMuseumCenter.podbean.com.

What keeps you busy when you’re not at work?

I have three children, three dogs and an incredible partner who challenge and keep me busy. Spending an afternoon in the backyard or in the kitchen with them is fulfilling. When it’s time to recharge, I like to exercise or watch a movie that dials up a little nostalgia and comfort.
