Meet Rodney Lear, Our New Events and Volunteer Coordinator

Rodney Lear joined the Cincinnati Public Radio staff a few weeks ago; he’s a radio veteran with over 30 years of experience. Rodney hosted a public affairs radio show and executive-produced interviews with government officials, community leaders, international artists and celebrities. He has experience in national radio sales and community outreach.

As the Events and Volunteer Coordinator Rodney manages both internal and external events for CPR. He will also collaborate closely with our dedicated volunteers.

“I value the opportunity to engage directly with the local community, building meaningful connections with listeners. I love the new building—totally state-of-the-art and the performance studio is impressive. Everyone has been so welcoming and genuinely seems excited to have me on the team.”

Rodney is the father of two young adult sons. He’s coached soccer for over 15 years and is currently coaching junior high track and field. Rodney enjoys old-school R&B music and on Sunday afternoons, you’ll find him on the couch, comfortably watching a Cincinnati Bengals game.

“For over 10 years, I curated a recommended summer reading list featuring books in three categories: picture books, middle school, and young adult. As a result, you’ll often find me reading one of those books—which my wife teases me about relentlessly. My favorite restaurants are Cincinnati staples like LaRosa’s, Skyline, and Jeff Ruby’s. If I were planning a staycation, I would visit Fernbank Park on the west side and take in the view of the Ohio River at sunset. I'd also visit some local restaurants and check them off my ever-growing bucket list.”

We’re excited to celebrate Cincinnati Public Radio’s One Year Anniversary in our new home on Dana Avenue with an open house on April 25th. We have so many activities planned for the free event, including live music, games, food trucks, and a variety of family-friendly activities.

Volunteers can sign up for this event or fund drives at cinradio.org/volunteer.
