An Artist Who Knows (And Values) the Region’s Arts Scene

“I love doing Cincinnati Spotlight because, as a lifelong resident of Cincinnati and longtime musician, I know the depth and quality of the area’s arts and cultural organizations. With Spotlight, I’ve tried to expand our reach beyond downtown and OTR to theatres and galleries from Northern Kentucky to Dayton to Milford to Price Hill. It’s really amazing the passion of so many people to make the art happen.”

Behind The Scenes

Each two-minute Spotlight takes 60-90 minutes to pull together from researching possible guests to scheduling them to come in for a 5–10-minute session, to recording and editing (it’s like doing a puzzle in reverse….how much can I take out and still get the whole picture in), to writing web copy and finally getting it on air. I try to find a balance between the different art forms like dance, community theatre, art galleries, local authors, concerts, etc. “

Elaine Wants To Hear From You

“We are so grateful to the arts community for helping make Spotlight what it is and all the listeners who hear something interesting and become a patron. Since we do have to work ahead to get the segments recorded, anyone interested in talking about their organization or production on Spotlight should let us know 3-6 weeks in advance. You can send information to wguc@wguc.org.”
