The Young Professionals Choral Collective (YPCC) fosters an inclusive and vibrant community through the shared joy of creating choral music. The organization engages more than 500 singers ages 21 to 45 across the Cincinnati area each season, offering a unique “choose-your-own-adventure” model that allows participants to tailor their involvement, from seasonal concert cycles and Chamber Choir to caroling gigging. Through distinguished programming and notable collaborations, YPCC celebrates the voices that shape our world while empowering singers to use their talents to make meaningful impact in the community.
Founded by KellyAnn Nelson at Below Zero Lounge in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood in November 2011, YPCC quickly found its niche in the vibrant arts community of downtown Cincinnati and has pioneered a choral model gaining national attention. The organization has grown from its humble beginnings to encompass a roster of over 1,000 volunteer singers who live and work throughout greater Cincinnati. Singers and audiences alike connect during YPCC’s unique, high-quality concert presentations at unforgettable locations like the Cincinnati Museum Center, Memorial Hall, and The Carnegie, and through dynamic arts partnerships with organizations including the Cincinnati Opera, MUSE, the Cincinnati Pops, Pones, and Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.
YPCC explores how music serves as a powerful platform for storytelling, connection, and positive change. Through diverse programming that spans from traditional arrangements to contemporary compositions, the organization creates space for voices across time and communities while reflecting the richness of Cincinnati’s cultural landscape. By bringing together young professionals from various backgrounds and musical experiences, YPCC demonstrates how choral music can bridge differences and foster understanding in an increasingly connected world.
The organization’s vital work is supported by ArtsWave, the Ohio Arts Council, the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, generous individual donors, and Community Partners. This broad base of support enables YPCC to continue its mission of building community through the transformative power of choral music.
