We are fortunate to have so many supporters who have been listening for most of their lives and want to do something special to express their gratitude. Cincinnati Public Radio’s legacy societies recognize individuals, couples and families who contribute to the tradition of planned giving by including their favorite public radio station in their will or estate plans. The naming of Cincinnati Public Radio (WGUC or WVXU) as a beneficiary of your plans is a wonderful tribute to your relationship with our region and the station.
* Gifts to Cincinnati Public Radio are subject to the station’s gift acceptance policies.
Legacy Society members are recognized and thanked through on-air testimonials, print publications, and online (with permission.) They are also invited to special events and receptions with featured guests.
Our Director of Major & Planned Gifts is Conrad Thiede. You can reach him at 513-419-7116 or cthiede@cinradio.org.
To help you get started on your plans and legacy, you can use FreeWill, an online tool that guides you through the process of creating your will or trust. It’s easy to use, accessible online, and can be completed in 20 minutes. You can use this resource on its own, or use it to document your wishes before finalizing your plans with an attorney.
Have you already included a gift in your will or trust? Please fill out this form to let us know! We would love to thank you for your generosity.
Do you have an IRA, 401(k), life-insurance policy, or any other assets not included in your will? If so, these are called non-probate assets and you must plan your beneficiaries for them separately. Use this online tool to make your plans and designate us as a beneficiary of one or more of these assets.
Dr. Kelly Hale is a lifelong listener and forty-year supporter of Cincinnati Public Radio.
“It’s so important to have a station like WGUC when you are a musician, and your life is in the arts because it affirms that professional life and world… I was maybe 10 or 12 years old when I realized I can’t do anything else but music in my life. It’s the most important thing.”
Kelly joined the station’s Ransohoff Legacy Society when he shared his decision to include WGUC in his will.
“I have always thought that leaving something for WGUC in my estate planning was the right thing to do because it has been so incredibly important in my life, and I value it so very highly. When I needed to revise my will, it was something that I saw as very important to do – a sort of a legacy that I hope will help in keeping WGUC not only going but expanding and finding as many new ways as can be found in this 21st century of putting its mission forward.”
Thanks to Kelly, the programming on WGUC he loves, appreciates and counts on will continue and be expanded upon for generations to come.
Gary and Janice Lubin have been longtime listeners and supporters of Cincinnati Public Radio.
“WVXU provides dependable, accurate news, commentary and heartwarming human-interest stories. WGUC is the only source of programmed classical music on our dial. Ninety percent or more of our radio listening time is on WGUC and WVXU. Our gift is a way of paying back, or more optimistically putting it, paying it forward to encourage, support, publicize and promote African American history, culture, and accomplishments.”
The Lubins have been contributing to the station since 1988. Gary and Janice joined Cincinnati Public Radio’s Legacy Society by informing the station of their decision to include it in their estate plans.
Janice and Gary, advocates for eradicating continued injustices in our country and members of the Church of the Redeemer in Hyde Park, spent 47 years together. Sadly, Janice passed away in September 2020.
