This is our last chance to protect federal funding for public radio!

This morning, the U.S. Senate narrowly passed H.R. 4, the Rescissions Act of 2025, with amendments. The rescission bill is expected to return to the House for a vote TONIGHT. Although the rescission bill was amended to remove other funding cuts, passage of the bill would still rescind funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and be very harmful to public media stations like WVXU, WGUC, and WMUB.

This is our last chance to defend this funding, and we need your help. Please email or call your representative in the House and urge them to vote against this rescission package.

We’ve included contact information, an email template, and a phone call script to make it easy.

Please send this email to your representative in the House as soon as possible:

I urge you to strongly oppose the narrowly approved rescission package in the Senate today, despite bipartisan opposition and widespread concerns. The amended rescission package has been transmitted back to the House for a vote this week. As amended, the rescission package would devastate local public radio stations and hurt 200,000 of your constituents.

This federal funding is absolutely critical.

Cincinnati Public Radio is a community-licensed station with a long history of fiscal responsibility and community support.

WVXU and WMUB provide critical emergency information for public safety, local and regional news, and educational outreach. As journalism around the country continues to shrink, these public radio stations have stepped up to fill the gap.

WGUC is one of the classical stations in the country that relies on the blanket music licenses the CPB negotiates with the music collective rights organizations. Without these licenses, our programming will be immediately affected.

Please work with your colleagues to oppose the amended rescission package in the House.

We are counting on you to stand up for this vital public service in our community and preserve federal support for the public media system, ensuring its continued existence now and into the future.

Sincerely,

If you prefer to call, here's a script to follow:

Hi, my name is [NAME]. I live in [TOWN, CITY, STATE].

I’m calling to urge [REPRESENTATIVE NAME] to oppose efforts to eliminate federal funding for public media. The majority of this funding is intended to support local stations like mine, WVXU, WGUC, and WMUB.

My local station is a vital part of my community — it connects us and keeps us informed on issues of local importance, especially during emergencies. It supports local businesses and community organizations. Without this funding, stations like ours could go dark. That’s not a risk I’m willing to accept. Please vote NO on rescission and protect our state’s local stations.

Please vote NO on rescission and protect our state’s local stations. I urge [REPRESENTATIVE NAME] to safeguard this service for your constituents, like me.
